About

In 1989, the law firm of Hammonds & Sills began providing legal services to Louisiana public school boards and to numerous insurance companies operating in Louisiana. Prior to 1989, the firm’s two founding partners- Bob Hammonds and Ken Sills- were separately involved in the representation of such clients and had been so involved for more than twenty years. Since 1989, the firm has grown from the two founding partners into a 19 lawyer firm with offices in Baton Rouge, Monroe, and Bossier City.

Today, we provide legal services to more than 50 of the public school districts in Louisiana and to numerous insurance companies and private clients throughout the state. Our experienced litigators handle both jury and non-jury trials with great success rates for private and public clients. Legal services rendered by the firm include all levels of public school law, private and public employment law and claims, litigation and administrative hearings in State and Federal courts, insurance defense, construction contracts and claims, worker’s compensation matters, medical malpractice defense, public records request, open meetings law, constitutional law claims, mediation services, and other general civil business matters.

Our History and Unique Positioning

On July 1, 2012, the law firm of Hammonds & Sills became Hammonds, Sills, Adkins & Guice, LLP. HSAG maintains its main office in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a fully staffed branch office in Monroe, Louisiana and an office in Bossier City, Louisiana. Regardless of where in the state a client may be located, therefore, he/she is near an attorney in the firm with the experience to handle his/her needs.

Over the years, the firm has successfully handled many cases involving medical malpractice defense, personal injury defense claims (liability and UM), property damage claims, duty to defend claims, insurance coverage claims, contract claims, and bad faith claims for its insurance clients. The firm has successfully litigated many complex cases involving school system desegregation, reapportionment, employee grievances, the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA), constitutional issues, construction disputes, public contract and bid problems, Fair Labor Standards Act claims, and workers’ compensation matters for both private and public clients.

Attorneys in the firm have been involved in many cases wherein new and important legal standards have been established by state and federal courts. Their expertise and success have been noticed by other attorneys in Louisiana, whose comments contributed to the firm’s receipt of the highest possible rating by Martindale-Hubbell Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.

In 2020 the firm added two long-time partners, Elmer Noah and Alejandro Perkins, to the firm's name becoming Hammonds, Sills, Adkins, Guice, Noah & Perkins.
