Marissa Batiste is a native of Plaquemine, LA. After receiving her B.A. in Political Science at Southern University in 2016, she went on to earn her J.D. at Southern University Law Center in 2019 where she ranked 1/105. During this time, she served as the executive editor of Southern University Law Center Law Review.

Following law school, Marissa worked as an associate attorney at Phelps Dunbar LLP, where she represented clients in federal health care law and commercial law. She then went on to serve as a law clerk for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana.

Marissa’s areas of practice include federal litigation, labor and employment, and education law.

Marissa also enjoys giving back to her community. During her free time, she is a volunteer coach Mentorship Academy Cheerleaders and is a part of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
