Nikki Essix-Manuel is a highly accomplished attorney whose practice combines extensive litigation experience, strategic legal counsel, and a deep commitment to public service. She advises clients on a broad range of matters, including appellate advocacy, legal ethics and professional disciplinary defense, governmental relations, organizational policy development, internal investigations, and compliance training.
Nikki earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alabama, where she double majored in Political Science and Speech Communication. She went on to attend Southern University Law Center, where she distinguished herself academically and professionally as a member of the Southern University Law Review, serving as its Comments Editor. She also served as Secretary of the Moot Court Board, further demonstrating her leadership and advocacy skills during law school.
Following graduation, Nikki was selected to serve as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Charles R. Jones of the Louisiana Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal in New Orleans. During her clerkship, she played a significant role in the judicial process by researching and drafting opinions and writ decisions involving complex legal issues, including asbestos litigation and other appellate matters.
Throughout her career, Nikki has successfully represented a diverse range of clients, including judges, attorneys, coaches, corporate executives, governmental entities, state agencies, boards, commissions, licensing boards, and large corporate organizations. Her broad experience and strategic approach have made her a trusted advisor in high-stakes legal, regulatory, and governance matters.
Nikki remains actively involved in the legal profession through her memberships in the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Dean Henry A. McMahon American Inn of Court. She also previously served as President of the Baton Rouge Association of Women Attorneys (BRAWA), demonstrating her commitment to advancing the legal profession and supporting fellow attorneys.
A dedicated community leader, Nikki has consistently devoted her time and talents to numerous local and national philanthropic organizations. As Past President of the Baton Rouge Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., she led a program that earned national and regional recognition for having the “Best Legislative Program” among more than 235 chapters nationwide.
Her passion for service extends across many causes. Nikki is a strong advocate for children’s literacy and regularly volunteers as a reader at Dufrocq Elementary School. She supports hunger-relief efforts through volunteer work with the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and St. Vincent de Paul, and she champions economic empowerment through her service on the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of Southwest Louisiana.
