Wendy B. Horton

Of Counsel

Born and raised in Farmerville, Louisiana, Wendy brings more than 20 years of experience to her tax and transactional practice. She works with private businesses, nonprofit organizations, and state and local governments on a wide range of matters, including bond issuances, tax planning, tax credit opportunities, business structuring, and trust and succession planning. Wendy enjoys helping clients make sense of complex issues and finding solutions that support both their immediate needs and long-term goals.

Wendy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication, cum laude, from Tulane University in 2003. While at Tulane, she was a member of the Green Wave varsity cheerleading squad, an experience that may help explain the energy and enthusiasm she still brings to just about everything she does.

She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law in 2006, where she was a competitive oralist, coach, and board member of Moot Court. Always up for another challenge, Wendy continued her education at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law, earning her Master of Laws in Taxation (LL.M.) in 2007.

Wendy is licensed to practice law in Louisiana, Texas, and Alaska, and her career has taken her well beyond her Louisiana roots. While living in Alaska, she served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Public Corporations and Governmental Services Section. In that role, Wendy was selected as lead attorney representing the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation and the State of Alaska in investor negotiations involving a proposed natural gas pipeline project valued at more than $40 billion.

When she isn’t working through a complex tax or transactional matter, Wendy likes to stay busy and rarely seems to run out of interests. She enjoys running, tennis, photography, hiking, fishing, reading fiction, traveling, and just about anything involving cooking. Most importantly, she loves spending time with family and friends and can frequently be found on the sidelines of her kids’ sporting events, where she readily admits she may be cheering a little louder than everyone else.
