Robert “Bob” Hammonds, a founding partner of Hammonds, Sills, Adkins, Guice, Noah & Perkins, is a renowned for his expertise in the intricate field of education law. Bob’s expertise encompasses a wide array of school law litigation, including complex desegregation cases, employment discrimination disputes, special education matters, and administrative hearings.
Over the decades, he has become an advocate for school boards and their staff members across the state of Louisiana. He has also become a familiar face in federal district courts throughout the state. He has argued numerous cases before the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, showcasing his formidable advocacy skills. His exceptional abilities have even earned him the privilege of practicing before the highest judicial body in the United States, the Supreme Court of the United States.
In addition to his remarkable achievements in the courtroom, Bob is an active member of several esteemed legal associations. He holds memberships in the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, and the National School Boards Association Council of School Attorneys. Furthermore, his peers have elected him to serve as the President of the Louisiana School Attorneys Association.
Beyond his legal practice, Bob is a dedicated educator and mentor. He has generously shared his knowledge and insights as a guest lecturer at state universities and education seminars. Through hundreds of training sessions, he has empowered school board members, superintendents, principals, teachers, and other education professionals, equipping them with the necessary tools to excel in their roles.
Bob earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Law in 1976 at Louisiana State University. He furthered his education at the same esteemed institution, obtaining his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in 1978.
