Kristine D. Smiley brings more than two decades of legal experience to her practice, with a strong focus on workers’ compensation defense, employer liability, and protecting employers’ rights. As a founding member of Tierney & Smiley, LLC, before merging with HSAGN&P in Spring of 2026, she has built a reputation for providing practical, results-driven counsel to employers navigating complex workplace and employment-related matters.
A graduate of the University of South Alabama, Kristine earned her Bachelor of Arts in English in 1994 before pursuing her legal education at the Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where she received both her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Civil Law degrees in 2004. During law school, she distinguished herself as a member of the prestigious Louisiana Law Review.
Since her admission to the Louisiana Bar in 2004, Kristine has represented employers across Louisiana, providing strategic guidance and vigorous advocacy in workers’ compensation and employer liability matters. She is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state and federal courts.
Kristine is actively involved in the legal and business communities through her memberships in the Louisiana State Bar Association, Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Baton Rouge Bar Association’s Workers’ Compensation Section, the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry, and the Louisiana Association of Self Insured Employers. She has also contributed to the legal profession through her service on the editorial board of the Louisiana Bar Journal.
