Jay Mitchell has an unwavering commitment to justice which has left an indelible mark on the legal landscape of his community. Upon graduation from Louisiana Tech University in 1986, with a bachelor’s in Finance, Jay pursued his law degree at LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center where he graduated with honors. Jay started his career as a law clerk for the Louisiana Supreme Court and quickly gained the knowledge he needed to become the attorney he is today. Jay served as the Parish Attorney for Ouachita and Morehouse Parishes for more than 20 years and has experience in all aspects of civil representation of local government. Jay also has experience in Medical Malpractice Defense, Insurance Defense, Workers’ Compensation, and Administrative Law. Jay stays very active inside and outside the office as a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Louisiana Parish Attorneys Association, and a past Board of Director for the Fourth District Bar Association, to name just a few. He also volunteers his time with local organizations, such as: The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana, West Monroe/West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce, and the West Monroe Civitan Club. Jay and his wife Staci are longtime members of the First Methodist Church of West Monroe. They have 4 children and 4 grandchildren (so far!).
