Ashley U. Firven is a Partner at Hammonds, Sills, Adkins, Guice, Noah & Perkins, LLP, where she focuses her practice on civil litigation, employment law, insurance defense, and workers’ compensation. She is committed to building strong client relationships and providing strategic, results-driven representation while advocating for the best interests of those she serves.
Ashley earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with a concentration in American Politics and a minor in Black Studies, from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2014. While at UC Santa Barbara, she served as President of Akanke, a women of color support organization, and as Education Chair for the Black Student Union, demonstrating an early commitment to leadership, advocacy, and community engagement.
Following graduation, Ashley joined Teach For America as a Corps Member, serving from August 2014 through May 2016 as an eighth- and ninth-grade English Language Arts teacher at Northeast High School in Pride, Louisiana. In this role, she developed curriculum, fostered a positive classroom environment, and prepared students for academic success, reinforcing her passion for education and service.
Ashley went on to earn her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Southern University Law Center in 2019. During law school, she served as Senior Editor of the Journal of Race, Gender, and Poverty, worked as a Teaching Assistant for the Board of Student Advisors, and received the prestigious CALI Award for earning the highest grade in Basic Civil Procedure.
Ashley remains actively engaged in the legal profession through the Louisiana State Bar Association. Since being installed in June 2023, she has served as the District 6 Representative on the Young Lawyers Division Council, a position she continues to hold. She is also a graduate of the Louisiana State Bar Association’s 2022–2023 Leadership Class. Throughout her career, Ashley has shared her knowledge as a speaker and presenter for law students at both Louisiana State University and Southern University Law Center.
Earlier in her legal career, Ashley devoted significant time to professional and community service. She previously served as a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association House of Delegates, volunteered with the Louisiana State Bar Association Hurricane Relief Hotline, participated in the Baton Rouge Bar Association Pro Bono Clinic, and served on the Events Committee for the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society – Baton Rouge Chapter. These experiences reflect her longstanding commitment to service and expanding access to justice.
Ashley is also a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, where she continues her commitment to scholarship, leadership, and service.
