As a seasoned legal practitioner, John Scott Thomas, known to friends and colleagues as Scott, has carved a niche for himself as a Special Counsel specializing in an array of practice areas. His expertise encompasses litigation in both Federal and State Courts, with a focus on Civil Rights matters, Employment Discrimination, Municipal Law, Insurance Defense, and general tort work.
One of Scott’s most prominent cases addressed complex issues surrounding the inherent powers of Governor’s orders, qualified immunity, freedom of religion, and the establishment clause. His unwavering dedication and expertise guided him to victories at both the District and US 5th level, with a petition for writ of certiorari pending at the US Supreme Court.
Scott’s professional affiliations attest to his dedication. He is a proud member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Baton Rouge Bar Association, and the Defense Research Institute (DRI). Scott also serves as the Recruiting/Membership Chair for the Federal Bar Association Baton Rouge Chapter where he has been a member since 2023. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science in 1989 from LSU, and pursued his Juris Doctor at LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center, completing his legal education in 1993.
