HSAG attorney Monica Vela-Vick received the Hon. Michaelle Pitard Wynne Professionalism Award from the Louisiana State Bar Association, Young Lawyers Division on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Louisiana State Bar Association 76th Annual Meeting in Destin, Florida.
The honor recognizes service and professionalism, qualities exemplified by Wynne, who was a U.S. Magistrate Judge, United States District Court, Eastern Division in 1982-94 and taught in Tulane Law’s Trial Advocacy program. The award is given each year to a young attorney for “commitment and dedication to upholding the quality and integrity of the legal profession and consideration toward her peers and the general public.”
Monica was nominated for the award by the Baton Rouge Bar Association, Young Lawyers Section. She generously donates her time and efforts to many different charitable causes. She served as the Chair of the Teen Court program of the Baton Rouge Bar Association and other Bar committees and programs. She is on the LSU Diversity Task Force as well. Monica is a member of the American Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Baton Rouge Bar Association, the Wex Malone American Inns of Court, and the Baton Rouge Association of Women Attorneys.
Monica joined the firm of Hammonds, Sills, Adkins & Guice, LLP in May of 2015. She works closely with partner Alejandro Perkins and several other attorneys to provide numerous clients with the best professional legal services possible.
